The RAISE Family Lab at the FIU Center for Children and Families, is recruiting undergraduate research assistants!

The Raise Family Lab welcomes volunteer undergraduate research assistants. For more information, click on the description overview. Applicants who meet the requirements may complete an application.

Led by Dr. Ali Giusto, the RAISE Lab uses community-engaged approaches to design and evaluate culturally responsive mental health interventions for youth and families. This work spans the U.S., Kenya, and other global settings, with the overarching goal of advancing practical, community-driven strategies to improve youth mental health. As a volunteer research assistant, you may assist with participant recruitment and scheduling, support data collection and cleaning, support translation, community outreach, data cleaning and coding, qualitative interviews and transcription, social media outreach, and lab communications. Research assistants will also be expected to attend lab meetings, contribute to journal clubs, and attend related workshops and seminars. We are seeking motivated, detail-oriented individuals with strong communication and organizational skills. This opportunity is especially valuable for students interested in pursuing graduate school and gaining experience in interdisciplinary research.

Requirements include:

  • Commitment to 10 hours a week

  • Have a GPA of 3.5 or above in a related major (e.g. psychology or statistics)

  • A commitment of at least two consecutive semesters

  • Strong interest in psychology, mental health, or community-based research

  • Completing required training

  • Hard working, conscientious, team player

  • Professionalism & strong interpersonal skills

Preferred qualifications:

  • Previous research experience

  • Bilingual (Spanish specifically)

  • Flexibility to assist with occasional evening/weekend events
